Black & White, the new imprint of Sundeep Prakashan,* has been launched with the objective of publishing new, thought-provoking books on a wide range of subjects in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences including Performing Arts, Indology and related disciplines, Ecology and Environment, Gender Studies and Memoirs. Black & White, as the name suggests, will be devoted to the publication of objective studies, both academic and non-academic.

Equipped with modern publishing infrastructure and well established network of trade channels in India and abroad, B&W is committed to creativity and quality. It will respond to the changing dimensions of reading and writing in the 21st century.

The first bunch of five books from B&W was released in January 2005. They cover a variety of subjects.  Methods and Theories in the Study of Religions by Pratap Kumar is on Religious Studies while An Essential Guide to Sanskrit : For Spiritual Seekers by Dennis Waite and Understanding the Kundalini by Yogi Harinam Baba Prem Tom Beal fall in the domain of Indology. The Legacy of India edited by G T Garratt, a classic, is  a multidisciplinary study. The publication of A Dictionary of Medicinal Plants by A S Sandhu, A P Singh reinforces the global realization of the importance of medicinal plants.  

The authors of these books also come from a variety of disciplines. Pratap Kumar is an academic and is, at present, Director of the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, UK. Dennis Waite, a full-time writer and philosopher, is a member of the Ramana Maharshi Foundation in London. Yogi Harinam Baba Prem Tom Beal is a classically trained teacher in the traditional Gurukula system. Garratt was a distinguished British Civil Servant. Sandhu is a botanist while Singh is a practitioner of Ayurvedic Medicine.
